Join us as we celebrate African contributions to the culture and history of our state. Braima Moiwai and the Sankofa Cultural Group will present stories, music, dance, interactive games and cooking demonstrations. Mr. Moiwai, a native of Sierra Leone, is an engaging artist and teacher. Bring your imagination – and your appetite – and join us for an afternoon of learning and fun!
Also on hand will be Sallie Ann Robinson, author of Cooking the Gullah Way: Morning, Noon and Night. Ms. Robinson was born and reared on Daufuskie Island, one of the South Carolina sea islands know for Gullah culture. With this book, Robinson highlights some of her favorite memories and delicious recipes from life on Daufuskie.
Junteenth is included with the Adventure Pass & Mountain Membership. Individual Plantation admission is $9.00 for adults and $7.00 for children ages 3-11.
